I have met the owners of The Southern Chateau and toured the venue, and I have some insider tips to help you plan a wedding here that is intimate and stress-free!
About The Southern Chateau
The Southern Chateau offers a beautiful mix of rustic charm and modern elegance, fusing the best of both vibes to create a perfectly versatile venue that would accommodate any couple's style. It is just five minutes away from the Payson LDS Temple to the east, and 20 minutes away from LeBaron Point at Utah Lake to the west, with its gorgeous views for sunset photos. Your guests will appreciate the convenience of a very short drive from the 15 freeway and a fully accessible venue with plenty of parking and amenities.
Bride and Groom Prep Rooms
When I saw how beautiful and thoughtfully-designed the bridal suite was, I felt like making myself comfortable and staying a while. It has beautiful, comfy furniture and the decorative window film provides privacy but still lets all that natural light in. There is a complimentary coffee/hot chocolate bar for the bridal party to share, which, as a hot chocolate addict, I think is such a great idea!
At this venue, the bride isn't the only one who gets a full vanity set! The groom’s lounge has just as much thought put into it, with a full vanity, incredibly comfortable furniture, and another complimentary coffee/hot chocolate bar. I love the equality being showcased here, with both the bride and the groom getting special treatment and a great place to prep and relax.
You won't be thinking about this beforehand, but you'll be grateful to find upon arrival that each prep room has not only a full-length mirror and plenty of outlets, but also a steamer for your use as you touch up your dresses and suits before the ceremony.
My favorite thing about these prep rooms, though, is that they are placed on either side of the spacious entrance, so that they are completely separate from each other. I can imagine the bride and groom emerging from their separate lounges and meeting in the middle for a romantic first look.
Southern Chateau Wedding Ceremony and Reception Venue
When you book an event at The Southern Chateau, you get a large event hall with vaulted ceilings, gorgeous crystal chandeliers, barn doors, and exposed rustic beams. It is incredibly versatile, too; every time I go, it is set up with a different layout, and each one flows smoothly. Whether they're hosting a wedding luncheon, a ceremony with live music, a plated dinner, or a reception with plans for a rowdy dance party, the event hall will accommodate your family and friends and give the feelings of cozy intimacy and spacious comfort simultaneously.
The welcome signs here are customizable, and you'll have the option to bring in your own decorations or use the ones at the venue. The furniture and decor options are modern and tasteful, with wood and resin options of various shapes and sizes. They have decorations to choose from, including candles, florals, greenery, and runners. The decorations on hand currently come in cream and blush, sage and white, dusty blue, and brown and ivory. These options complement the venue nicely and give you options that are romantic, modern, elegant, or rustic, so that whatever vibe you're going for, there is a perfect option for you.
You'll also have the option to use the pipe and drape backdrops, which come in sheer and solid options in various colors to coordinate with the rest of the decor. Their twinkling light strands look amazing on this backdrop!
One of the best options offered here is their vinyl dance floor that can be personalized! Imagine having a dance floor that sets on top of the regular flooring, with the names of the couple in huge lettering across it! So cool.
For your reception, the event hall is seriously packed with options to make it feel 100% yours. Whether you add tons of florals or keep it simple, whether you use the venue's decorations or bring your own, it will feel exactly the way you planned!
The prep kitchen is conveniently close to the event hall and has plenty of space to move around in and to push carts in and out of. It's ready for you with a full-sized fridge, a freezer, microwave, sink, nugget ice-maker, shelves, counter space, and a serving cart. Bring the food and you're set!
What is special about this venue?
There are so many thoughtful features here, but to say The Southern Chateau truly cares about the people who come to their venue is not an exaggeration. Besides the venue already providing an absolutely stunning space for your ceremony and reception, and prep rooms you will appreciate, they've also ensured that the bathrooms are all handicap-accessible and gender-neutral. These are practicalities that just make sense, but you won't find that everywhere!

First off, take a few quiet minutes alone in your bridal suite or groom's lounge (no parents, no bridesmaids, just you) before the reception timeline takes over. Let the reality of the moment settle. Enjoy it. Record your thoughts and feelings. Re-set before the celebrations.
Don’t skip sunset portraits. Sunset is the most peaceful time of day, and the lighting is so soft. When you work with me, I’ll sneak you away at just the right time to capture a few intimate moments for you before the big finale.
